Jobs and training are of course important. But don’t forget the other economic impacts of renewable energy in rural areas: rents to farmers and other landowners, property taxes to local authorities, income (or at least reduced energy expenditures) to solar prosumers. The beauty of these is that they are not concentrated but widely dispersed across the rural economy. There will be few big winners but many small ones.
