In 2010, Pew found that “A record 15.1% of all new marriages in the United States were between spouses of a different race or ethnicity from one another. This compares to 8.4% of all current marriages regardless of when they occurred.” (Wikipedia) The rates are obviously higher for members of minorities. Of course, the multicultural blender of sex works much faster in cities than in the suburbs or the country. In a way, Barack and Michelle Obama were as much symbols of ethnic and cultural mixing as of black identity. He is an African American, not an African-American (link).
