Having looked at the most recent Lazard’s data on cost of energy – what the Re-pube-icans are saying is that they want Wyoming residents to pay more for their electricity – because using coal or nat gas (rather than wind) means they will pay more because new build wind is cheaper than new build gas or coal (not of course that anybody in their right mind is going to build coal stations….. oh hang on a sec…)

Philip Anschutz, the billionaire promoter of gigawatts of wind in Wyoming, will be marshalling his own troops. Even if the measure passes, it won’t spread. Tiny Wyoming’s neighbours (the population is under 600,000) don’t have its coal mines, and the coal lobby is therefore much weaker.
