Hi James, glad to have your voice on here. Would you mind trying to post your link again? We do of course allow links to be posted, so it may have been a technical error.

Conversely, the subsidized cheap electricity that German industry benefits from is a disincentive to efficiency. IIRC British industry, which does not get cross-subsidized power to anything like the same extent, has been doing quite well on efficiency.

The inability of this site to accept links in comments is a disincentive to readers to provide sources for their assertions. (I’m here as a refugee from Craig’s old sire Renewables International, which allowed URLs),

Scotland generated 106% of ALL demand (including industry) on a windy Sunday earlier this month…

“Roughly 7 percent of the electricity that the German power plant fleet generates is consumed on-site, so we can take off another roughly 30 TWh.” If the gross power generation in 2015 was cc 652 TWh than 7% of it equals to 45-46 TWh and not 30 TWh. If I miss something then sorry about that.
